This Is Absolutely Not A Political Statement! Woe To You!

This is absolutely not a political statement: Happily, the Oval Office-backed incumbent conservative firebrand representative from Tennessee’s 5th District doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in the Sahara of serving in the 120th session of Congress.

How to put this politely?

He got his gluteus maximus kicked liked an idle soccer ball tempting Spain’s Ferran Torres or braces-wearing Lamine Yamal.

For those who missed that: Substitute Lionel Messi, whose Argentina team fell to Torres and Yamal.

Simply put: Andy Ogles ain’t gonna appear as the Republican nominee in November, despite his ill-informed and historically ignorant AI generated March 22 X post of himself, flanked by the Secretaries of State and Defense cosplaying as crusaders marching in front of the Capitol with the caption "This is a battle of good vs. evil. We must reaffirm that our nation was built on Christian principles. Join Us.” [Someone ought to tell Mr. Ogles that cosplaying is “So Kristi Noem.”] In June, Mr. Ogles took the modern-day coward’s way out and blamed an office staffer for his “stupid” and “hurtful” post “Homosexuality has no place in America. Happy Nuclear Family Month.”

Let’s get right to the point: Any candidate – from either party – who declares “Homosexuality has no place in America” really ought to ask the current president if that is true, because one of the highest-ranking members of the president’s cabinet has been married to his husband since 2011 and the two have two children by surrogates.

In addition: One Deputy Assistant to the President, one of the president’s longtime senior pollsters; a Special Presidential Envoy for Special Missions; a State Department spokesperson; an Under Secretary of State: and at least two U.S. Ambassadors are all members of the LGBTQ community.

An August 26, 2025 report (“Donald Trump’s Big Gay Government,” The New York Times, Shawn McCreesh) described “the A-Gays.”

“They’re (mostly) out, they’re proud (to work for President Trump) and they have big jobs inside (or alongside) this administration. They wield influence all over town, from the Pentagon to the State Department to the White House to the Kennedy Center. [All phrases in parentheses in original text.]

‘‘We’re like Visa,” [one] said. ‘Everywhere you want to be.’

“…They’re overwhelmingly white and tend to have a certain kind of look. Close cropped haircuts. Windowpane suits. Golf shorts. They’re not the type to be telling anyone their pronouns or using the word ‘queer.’ And they aren’t the least bit offended that the leader of their party continues to stoke a moral panic about transgender people.

“They’re gay. But they’re still Republicans…”

The Times article cited the moment of high-level Republican change as

“…the 2016 Republican National Convention, when Peter Thiel was given a prime-time speaking slot and used it to endorse Mr. Trump, saying: ‘I am proud to be gay. I am proud to be a Republican. But most of all I am proud to be an American.’

“At gay bars around town and on dating apps they are either iced out or confronted about the things this president has said and done. He cut AIDS relief around the world and H.I.V. vaccine research and funding for L.G.B.T.Q. suicide prevention services. He called drag shows ‘anti-American.’ His defense secretary announced during Pride month that the Navy Vessel named after Harvey Milk would be renamed. Perhaps most worrying for many gay people is how conservative the Supreme Court has become thanks to Mr. Trump. Could same-sex marriage go the way of Roe? It is not out of the question…

“Gay Trump appointees interviewed for this article — some of whom said they weren’t authorized to speak on the record — dismiss such opprobrium as overheated liberal whining. They argue that the battle for gay rights has basically been won, and that there has never been a Republican as friendly to the gays as Donald J. Trump.

“He once asked a contestant on ‘The Apprentice’ if he was ‘a homosexual.’ When the man said that he was, Mr. Trump replied: ‘I like steak, somebody else likes spaghetti. That’s why they have menus in restaurants. It’s a great world.’

“His most recent campaign for president pumped out videos ridiculing gay people in the military. He recently mocked Pete Buttigieg’s same-sex marriage…”

And let’s not miss that “Happy Nuclear Family Month.”

Regardless of political leanings or affiliation, the world knows that – at the present time – the “nuclear family” doesn’t exist behind the Resolute Desk or in its proximate surroundings.

Himself is on marriage three; at present, the former Attorney General counts two divorces; the former Secretary of Homeland Security is seeking a divorce (and, for several reasons would probably even be eligible for an annulment in the Catholic Church); the former Director of National Intelligence was divorced and remarried; let’s not forget current or one-time administration advisors Newt Gingrich who’s on wife number three and Trump advisor Rudy Giuliani with three ex-wives and two estranged adult children; and the current White House Chief of Staff is divorce.

Whooooops!! We almost forgot the Secretary of Defense, who married his high school sweetheart (presumably in a Roman Catholic ceremony because it happened in the Cathedral of Saint Paul in Minnesota) in 2004 and divorced her in 2008, when he was already dating future wife (2010) number two. In 2017- and after having three children – she filed for divorce when she discovered he had fathered a child with then future wife number three.

So much for “biblical marriages.” Welcome “biblical grounds.”

Just for the moment, tuck into your memory the fact that, while a student at Princeton, the future Secretary of Defense was one of the editors of The Princeton Tory; “the editors” published a column declaring “…the homosexual lifestyle is abnormal and immoral” and argued

“Our present moment is much like the eleventh century [the era of the earliest crusades]. We don’t want to fight, but like our fellow Christians a thousand years ago, we must. We need an American Crusade.”

In the same October 2002 edition of The Princeton Tory, under “Notes from the Publisher” and accompanied by his name and class – Hegseth ’03, he wrote:

“The issues of our day, and this campus, center on, among others, encouragement and support for pre-marital sex, homosexuality, abortion, and a general hostility towards faith and religion. Quite a line-up. In order for an undergraduate to encounter the buzzwords of diversity (skin-deep), tolerance (one-sided), multiculturalism (anti-Western), and sexual/gender liberation (anti-family) they must simply attend lecture, precept, or University-sponsored events. These concepts, at least within the scope of Old Nassau, are guiding our generation.” [Editors’ Note: all (..) were in original text.]

Wow! What a great idea.

An American crusade against homosexuality! It can start at the White House.

A sure win!

Christian Europe essentially lost seven or eight (depending on the number of crusades you choose) of the eight or nine crusades and anywhere from one million to five million lives between 1095 and 1251 AD. [European chroniclers were not very good at records keeping and ever worse at accuracy.]

Pardon our cynicism, but ya gotta give Pete Hegset of The Princeton Tory of October 2002 credit: he was a secret crusader and anti-DEI before cosplaying crusaders and anti-DEI were in fashion.

A special, super-secret message to all the LGBTQ in D.C. (Well maybe not the T, ‘cause that’s still a definite no-no to this administration): Don’t worry! The Respect for Marriage Act, which President Joe Biden signed into law in 2022, mandates federal recognition of same-sex marriage and was passed by a bipartisan coalition of lawmakers. You’re safe unless Pentagon Pete mounts his white horse and starts another crusade.

One more element in the political discourse of 2026. Until April 1990, when Slovenia held its first multi-party democratic elections, it was one of the six federal republics that made up communist Yugoslavia. Melanija Knavs was born in communist Yugoslavia on April 26, 1970, became a model at age 16, changed her name to Melania Knauss and travelled to Paris and Milan before immigrating to the United States and eventually marrying a New Yorker and changing her name yet again.

Has anyone noticed how popular it has become for members of a certain party to refer to politicians of another party by their full names – as if, in some way, it might hint at an Arab, Muslim or Middle Eastern Heritage. The not-so-subtle message is “be afraid, be very afraid.”

If fair is fair, should we use the full – starting with the original and including the changes – name of the present First lady of the United States as some folks do for the 44th President of the United States or the Democratic candidate for the United States in Michigan?

By the way,  Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed graduated Phi Beta Kappa with double majors – biology and political science – from the University of Michigan, holds a 2011 doctorate in Public Health from the University of Oxford where he was a Rhodes Scholar, and earned a 2014 MD (Medical Doctor) from Columbia University.

His wife, Sarah Jukaku holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, a Master’s degree from the University of Oxford, and a 2015 MD from Columbia University.

After high school, Mr. Trump spent two years at Fordham University before completing his bachelor’s degree at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. He has never released his transcripts and student privacy laws prevent the schools from doing so. Despite his claims, there is no public record indicating he graduated anywhere near the top of his class.

“Woe to you, self-righteous scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!
For you are like whitewashed tombs
which look beautiful on the outside,
but inside are full of dead men’s bones
and everything unclean.”
